Citi

New Black Wall Streets

Publicis New York, US
In the early 20th century, the Greenwood area of Tulsa, Oklahoma, became one of the most commercially successful and affluent majority African American areas in the country, earning the nickname Black Wall Street. Then, in 1921, it was tragically and shamefully burned down during a race massacre. Flash forward to present day, Black-owned businesses are on the rise in the U.S., so Citi created a campaign to celebrate the perseverance of Black dreamers and the development of New Black Wall Streets. The launch film features Brian Tyree Henry telling the story of the glory days of 1920’s Black Wall Street and how its spirit lives on in modern-day Black entrepreneurs building their businesses across America today.
